It didn't really help most of them were on top of the large white arches either. Official map might be different, can't confirm. #2.

As for crystal isles it feels empty, aartifacts just laying on the ground for the pick up, that sort of stuff. It isn't as crazy rich with metal as say Whitespire Peak on the Island, but it's got enough deposits that it would be all a person needs for early to mid game. At least 12 or so, some of them rich metal.

Lost Island has the same size but it's more of an underwater adventure and Crystal Isles has more land mass due to the floating islands. Crystal Isles is the second mod map to bring a new Artifact.
